Improving app speeds and connections has been a top priority for the NymVPN team since launch. NymVPN v2025.8 includes many optimizations across all apps and both the Fast and Anonymous modes – you can even see better speeds with the Noise Generating Mixnet! Here’s everything that’s new with this release and what to look for next.

Status of iOS app

NymVPN v2025.8 for iOS (Version 2.4.0) is currently delayed on the Apple Store while the team works on adding in apps payments. You can access the latest version by downloading the NymVPN app on TestFlight.

Speed and connectivity enhancements

Toward a faster mixnet

The Anonymous mode on all apps is now much faster thanks to changes to the mixing delay times and node registration process. Give browsing a try with the Anonymous mode and let us know on TG how it works! But remember, the Nym mixnet was designed specifically for messaging, email, and crypto traffic that is need of high privacy and latency tolerant. But all else, you have the Fast mode.

Windows connection improvements

Network optimizations now improve the connectivity of the Windows desktop app. The team is hard at work addressing core bugs on the platform reported by users. Don't dispair Windows users, we're on it!

10+ languages for iOS & macOS apps

The iOS and macOS apps are now localized in 10+ languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese). When available, NymVPN will automatically be set to your OS default language.

On iOS, you can manually choose a different language: in NymVPN, go to Settings > Appearance > Language and then choose your preferred language from Apple’s NymVPN app settings.

Upgrades to app interfaces

Descriptions and menus have been added to gateway selection to help you better navigate your choice of nodes
Labelling and error messages have been added or improved so you can better troubleshoot connection problems
iOS: A security screen has been added to limit leakage of credentials

Bug Fixes

All apps: To address a reported mismatch between times on the network and device, a new message requests users to re-sync their device time in the event of connection problem

Windows, Linux, MacOS: Improvements have been made to firewall & DNS in cases where there is an inability to connect
